It's Friday. In only 4 days we'll be attending our 8th week of Foster Parent Classes. At the end of this class, the Department of Social Services assumes that we have the knowledge and skills we need to become licensed Foster Parents. Scary. Although I think the process has been extremely thorough, it still frightens me when I think about what we could be walking into.
In spite of my fears, God continues to prove faithful. He shows me each and every day that this is the direction that our family must take. From here on out, it's about obedience. After He has sacrificed so much for us, this step is easy. From here on, it's about love, true love. If I can show the love of Christ to each child that comes under our roof, then I have fulfilled part of His purpose. I pray, and rest assured, that He will give us strength, peace, perseverance and a heart of love for the people we will come in contact with through this system.
As I pray over the children that will come into our home, I know that God will lay countless blessings upon our home. At times it will be hard. There will be trials, tears, heartache and sleepless nights. I know that the Father, Creator of the Universe, will sustain us as we face challenges in the valleys and euphoria on the mountain tops.
Wish us luck...wait, I don't believe in luck. Instead, pray for us, our kids (both birth and foster) and our community. We have found our mission field, and to steal an awesome slogan from some very precious friends, from here on out, we are Only Servants...
You guys are amazing! I can't wait to hear when you get your first kid(s)! We are praying like crazy for your family and I am blessed just to read about what you're doing and how God is working in and through you.
ReplyDeleteWell, I admit it would be different if I had THREE and if two of my three were twins. Enjoy the baseball game! I hope to see pictures... :)

Hey! Thanks so much for hosting us tonight! We had a great time... what a fabulous house! Just think, in another few months when we get together, there could be another two (or more) kids involved! Then we can just order pizza and hose the kids off outside :-) I'm so glad we have met you guys... really, it's a blessing.
ReplyDeleteSee you Tuesday (if you can make it).
