All I need now is some blue-gray hair to go with my wax earplugs
The bloggin's been sparse lately, huh? That's what starting a new school year and attempting to be more routine about our day will do for you, huh? I've been trying to muster up some effort in the late evenings to blog but instead a little someone has decided that her new bedtime is 10:00pm and I'm just wore slap out. And there's also another someone who I like to spend time with sans kids and so blogging goes to the wayside.
Right now, the older 3 are playing something Toy Story related in the living room, I have a frozen Stouffer's lasagna in the oven, Aaron is in a TV coma because of his new love, Diego and the two littlest girls are asleep. Scratch that, Olivia is now stirring.
Currently, I'm dealing with pool water in the ear that refuses to make an exit, despite my attempts with rubbing alcohol and mashing my ear to the hot concrete because of some advice someone gave me. Neither has worked for the goal that I set out for. Although I have succeeded in have the most sterile ear canal on the planet and I'm sure that I've caused everyone driving by my house to wonder about the mental stability of the lady who's outside laying down on her sidewalk, then raising her head, shaking it and repeating.
Glad I'm awesome.
Another friend suggested that maybe I shouldn't put my head underwater when we go to the pool. However, that would never work because then I'd no longer be a cool Mom who does flips and cartwheels and super impressive cannonballs off the diving board. I mean, obviously God gave me lots 'o junk in my trunk so that my offspring can adequately marvel at my ability to make a giant splash and "make the pool wavy." (It's a small pool. Really. Stop imagining an Olympic sized pool in your mind. I promise it's a small one. My trunk's not that full. Maybe.)
My need for those old lady wax earplugs when I swim won't take away from my cool factor. Will it?
Oh and if anyone has any reasonable ideas for how to excavate pool water from your inner ear, I'd be happy to entertain them. Obviously. I mean, I did press the side of my face to my sidewalk earlier, so maybe that whole reasonable thing is just a suggestion. Just like how Stouffer's suggests that I heat their lasagna before eating it. You know, whatever.

Rainforest Rapids IAP My Summer Oasis
Dear Blast Zone Company,
This year, for the birthdays that my summer born children will celebrate, my husband and I decided to commit social suicide. You see, last year I promised myself that I would take my own advice and continue in the "new" tradition of off-site birthday parties. Our 4.5 year old daughter's 4th birthday party at the gymnastics facility was delightful and completely relaxing for both me and her father. Unfortunately (for us, but very fortunately for you), we opted to forgo this luxury this year and instead we were lured by your high powered marketing tactics (aka: listings on Craigslist and Ebay) and chose your Rainforest Rapids Inflatable Amusement Park (which I will herein refer to as RRIAP) as our one and only option for birthday party fun this summer.
Although I'm sure this will be a decision that I'll live to regret, we were thrilled not only to spendour money the grandparents' money and purchase our own bounce house/water slide for keepsies forever, but to see that we were going to receive it in a week's time, straight from (unless you count the FedEx stops in Kansas and all) the great state of The Governator.
Our Rainforest Rapids Inflatable Amusement Park (RRIAP) sat securely in her box until the first dry and semi-warm day we've had in the past week. Today, we busted open the box, hooked up the Boeing 747 "blower" and tested her abilities. You'll be happy to know that after many relocations, we finally found a patch of lush green grass to kill, right outside our back door.
(Be sure to take special note of Elizabeth, our first born, already injured in the bottom right hand corner of this picture. A class action law suit will also be attached and a secondary copy coming via certified mail. Well, not really, postage is now $0.44, and based on the price of your product, that is $0.44 I no longer have.)
I am humbled to say that your RRIAP, was indeed, love at first sight for both me and my children. Perhaps, because of my children's exhaustion, I will regain naptime afterall. I especially love that you offer RRIAP's use as both a wet/dry amusement park. Today, we decided to open 'er up and take her for a spin. I am thrilled to report that my children loved your product, all 16 ft x 14 ft of her.
However, I regret to inform you that you might have made a small oversight with the use of your product in "dry mode." It seems that, shipped along side of RRIAP (and only when used in "dry" mode) was her BFF, static cling.

The 15,000 watt voltage that lept from my children's fingers and onto my face EACH time they were near me was enough to fling me from my feet and onto our near standing swing set. After an entire box of dryer sheets, Ms. Static Cling has met her demise.
On a better note, I am hoping RRIAP's countless hours of unfailing (and hopefully, unpoppable) love will lead to many, many more of these from myterrorish delightful son.
My second eldest daughter was virtually unable to be photographed. Due to time constraints and necessary running, ear piercing screams and delightful jumping, I barely snapped this photograph before she was, once again, too consumed with sliding, jumping and squealing.
Overall, I would just like to thank you for this product. We have yet to test her out using the water hose, but we rest assured that adding water to her already incredibly slippery surface will make for an enjoyable time for both kids and parents alike (as the latter stands at a distance mocking and smirking at ill timed jumps and poorly placed footings).
A week from this Saturday we will be conducting a test of your product's strength. We have invited over severalcrash test dummies delightful, bounding children who will be pulling, jumping, climbing, gnashing their teeth slipping, sliding, laughing and enjoying the RRIAP. I will follow up with you at that time as to the effectiveness and guarantee of your manufacturer's 90 day warranty.
Yours Truly,
Jessica

Water, Water Everywhere
We have been so busy these last few days!! I realized that my last few posts have been exclusively about Baby D. While a lot of emotion has been wrapped around this little fella, my Mommy Fairness Alarm has been going off. Therefore, I must publish some pictures of Elizabeth, Lucas and Ashlee.
Before I do that, let me update you about Friday. I took Baby D to his appointment and I got to meet his birth parents. It went so much better than I could have ever anticipated and I could feel prayer all around me. God placed several things in my path (songs, familiar people, etc.) and I knew that prayers were being answered. I got the opportunity to speak with Baby D's social worker and get more information regarding his situation. It was good for me and helped me to gain some more insight into this process. This little guy is super, duper special and I'm loving him more and more with every diaper, bottle, cuddle and breath.

On Wednesday, we went to the pool at the country club (my parents are members, not us!). Elizabeth was SOOOOOO cute!

Ashlee's got the cutest booty ever! I loved how her little "cheeks" hung out of the sides!

Lucas hated this swimsuit. We tried to make him tough it out, but finally we caved and he got to use swimmies just like Elizabeth.
It's been super hot here with temps reaching the 100's. I tried to upload a video of the kids playing in the water, but it was taking too long. Maybe I'll try again if we ever get faster internet.
Also, some good friends are leaving tomorrow to serve the people of Kenya as missionaries. Please keep them in your prayers. God is good and as I've said before, I can't wait so see what lies ahead for our family.
